Daytona Beach free flu shot event
Free flu shots from the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020 at 310 Jean St. This is the same location residents pick up sandbags when preparing for a hurricane. The rain date is Friday, Dec. 11.
According to health officials, this year it’s more important than ever to get a flu shot. It is possible to have the flu and COVID-19 at the same time.
The CDC recommends that anyone age six months and older get a flu vaccine. They are also highly recommended for:
- People age 65 and older
- Pregnant women
- Infants over six months of age
- People with weakened immune systems or long-term health problems (such as asthma, diabetes or kidney disease)
Persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent who is able to sign a consent form. Residents with questions about the free flu shots can call the health department at (386) 274-0500.
